The House Christmas Card competition for Prep pupils provides an opportunity to win a significant number of House Points in the race for the Headmaster’s House Cup. As ever, we expected these entries to be of a high standard and this year did not disappoint – the children’s work was magnificent. As a result, we called on a BCS legend to make a return through the school gates and judge our competition. Mrs Lambert-Green, former Head of Creative Arts, spent well over an hour in the Boardroom looking closely at each piece of artwork and she wanted to give the following feedback to all children who participated:

“I was thrilled to see how many of you had entered the House Christmas Card Competition, spending time at home to create such original pieces of artwork. Of course, as you know, I think you should all be winners, as I know just how long it takes to create something so special. So I was glad to hear that you will all be receiving a House Point for entering. It took me a very long time to pick the Winners and Highly Commended pieces and I tried to consider some or all of the following: how original a piece was, use of other sources for inspiration, how carefully you had worked with your chosen media (pencil, pencil crayon, felt pens, fine-liners, paint, collage, oil / chalk pastels, mixed media etc ) and the overall composition of your work. You should all feel very proud and hopefully you will send lots of your own Christmas cards, so that others can enjoy what you have created! Wishing you a very Happy Festive Season!”

Best wishes, Mrs LG
