This morning, the whole Prep school squeezed into the school hall to enjoy singing their first Christmas carols of the year, accompanied by The Salvation Army brass band! The Salvation Army has been visiting Blue Coat annually for many years, but due to last year’s Covid restrictions, we missed having them on site. It was a real joy to hear them play some of our favourite carols: O Little Town of Bethlehem, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and the Christmas Calypso!
The church’s minister, Adrian, spoke to us about the work of the Salvation Army, who are putting love into action across our city, feeding the poor and providing Christmas presents for those who can’t afford to buy gifts for their families. Adrian drew on the example of Elizabeth comforting Mary, as she processed the news that she would give birth to Jesus. Adrian encouraged us all to offer comfort and encouragement to our friends when they are going through difficult times.
We are so grateful to the musicians for giving up their time on Friday morning to come and play. Our Chapel collections this Christmas will go towards supporting the amazing work of the Salvation Army.
