What a way to end the week! Last Friday we travelled to RGS The Grange to compete in the U9 and U11 Cross Country Meet. For some runners this was their first ever meet and for some they were running up an age category.

As we walked the course, the anxiety was building and the nerves set in, “Do we really have to run this far?” I was asked. If only they knew what they were capable of!

The course was fairly flat and the weather was perfect for running. The Year 3 and 4s set off first, followed by the Year 5 and 6s. As each runner crossed the finish line their were mixed emotions of exhaustion, relief and even disbelief. It was clear to see each and every runner gave their absolute all and we are extremely proud of them.

For the team event, the scores of the first 4 runners are totalled and the lowest score wins. As the scores were called it was apparent that the Year 3/4 girls were only a few points away from 3rd place and finished 4th overall, with the boys doing well to finish 3rd. A great result considering we had children running up an age group.

In the UIIs, the boys were first overall following a 2nd place for James Longworth and a 3rd place for Jack Soundy. Congratulations also to the girls who came 2nd overall with a 3rd place for Nush Singh.

In a well contested race, each runner walked away with a sense of achievement. Well done!
