As part of winning the #Six4Schools Initiative from Warwickshire CCC professional cricketers Sam Hain and Adam Hose visited BCS on Tuesday morning. After having photographs of the players within school who have recently achieved getting into their respective age groups for Warwickshire or Worcestershire, Year 6 were fortunate enough to have a question and answer session with them.
After a brief introduction about Sam and Adam’s careers and the achievements they have achieved from their successful cricketing careers it was Year 6’s turn to ask some questions. Some very intelligent questions followed with pupils making the two professional cricketers think and try to give them some tips for their future sporting lives regardless of what sport each pupil performs in. Adam noted Kumar Sangakkarra and Marcus Trescothick as the best players he had played with whilst Sam told stories of facing the searing pace of Mark Wood and Jofra Archer and how frightening that was with a cricket ball coming towards him at 95mph!
It was a great experience for pupils and the Sports Department to listen to the knowledge and words of wisdom of two professional sportsmen and hopefully it can inspire the children to head down to Edgbaston over the summer to watch games, to go out into their gardens at home or down to their local cricket club to practice and try to emulate Adam and Sam.
