A short but fun-packed final week of term was enjoyed by all. The week started with a trip to the Forest School to see a very important visitor. The outdoor classroom had been decorated and Father Christmas was in residence! From Nursery right up to Year 6, the magic of Christmas was in abundance and we thank The Friends for organising this special treat for the children. The Prep Celebration Assembly looked back on a busy term. Mr Newman, Head of Prep, was streamed via Google Meet into all the classrooms and shared a long list of achievements. On Tuesday, Mr Moss and his team cooked up a storm and a delicious Christmas lunch was served. The Catering team have also been very busy preparing a chocolate gift to take home and we thank them for their wonderful catering throughout the term.

As the term drew to a close Year 3 sent a letter, as well as a Christmas card, to their Year 6 buddies. Letters were sent to their buddy using red, yellow, blue and green paper to show loyalty to their Houses and contained news of all the exciting things Year 3 had been doing during the second half of the Michaelmas term. Year 6 were excited to read the letters and no doubt will return after Christmas to report what they have been doing during their holiday. The buddy letters continue to forge strong bonds between Year 3 and Year 6 and we look forward to the next set of letters.

The School Leaders also implemented a lovely initiative to get the children of Blue Coat to show their appreciation for the Support Staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes. The staff in Estates, Admin, Finance, IT, Catering, Admissions and Marketing were touched to receive handmade cards and good wishes from the children. Thank you!

Amongst the festivities we managed to hold the rescheduled ABRSM examinations and we applaud the children for their preparation and dedication to their practice at this busy time.

Today we all wore our brightly coloured Christmas jumpers and the Christmas spirit was running high – the grand final of the House Mastermind took place in the Sports Hall and there were just 2 points separating the top two Houses. Congratulations to St. Philip’s who were the overall winners. St. Margaret’s were the winners of the Headmaster’s House Cup after the Mastermind totals were added to the weekly House point total.

After party food at lunchtime and class and year group parties, there was just time for a Christmas pantomime in the School Hall. Well it wouldn’t be Christmas without one would it? Oh yes it would. Oh no it wouldn’t. Oh yes it would. Oh not it wouldn’t…

Signing off for 2021. Have a fabulous Christmas and best wishes from all at Blue Coat for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
