Thursday 7 January U11A Boys’ Hockey v KES (A)
Score: BCS 1-2 KES
Player of the Match: Greg Hackett

A score line which doesn’t truly reflect the nature of the game. BCS were dominant on the ball and kept possession well. Additionally, the boys kept their shape, which put KES under constant pressure when they had the ball. An early attack lead by Arjun Gill from the wing saw a great ball put in through the D to Remy Granger who didn’t quite get the flick. Despite the low possession percentage, KES were able to capitalise on a quick counterattack to put them up 1-0. The boys kept their heads up and played some great Hockey creating several chances within the D. Finally, we were able to get the ball in the back of the net! Positively, BCS were able to defend strongly against a string of short corners however eventually fell short to the scrappiest of goals. A great performance by all and we look forward to seeing more from this team.

Thursday 7 January U11B Boys’ Hockey v KES (A)
Score: BCS 1 – 1 KES
Player of the Match: Jack Soundy

A solid performance by the U11B Hockey team in their first ever Hockey fixture. The team were solid in defence with Jack and Jacob preventing any goal scoring opportunities and they were very creative in attack with Tom and Sam providing the width and delivering balls into the ‘D’ and Sai being a presence up front. The goal came from the stick of Sai with a smart finish after being one-on-one with the Goalkeeper. In all honesty the game should have been a clear victory as BCS created numerous scoring opportunities. However, they did not have enough composure in the final third to place the ball into the corners of the goal and were a little short on confidence when it came to shoot.

Wednesday 12 January U11A & B Boys’ Hockey v Repton Prep (A)
Score: BCS 6-2 Repton
Player of the Match: James Longworth

This was a superb team performance in which all players stuck to the game plan and their positions exceptionally well. Our defence smothered the ball quickly, putting each and everyone of their players under constant pressure. Our attack was free flowing and fast with effective balls being played in from the wing. Around the D we were clinical scoring with some effective flick shots around the goalkeeper. Our set plays were effective, and we were rewarded with a stunning goal from one of them. A well deserved victory today, well done to all.

Wednesday 12 January U11A & B Boys’ Hockey v Repton Prep (A)
Score: BCS 6 – 0 Repton
Player of the Match: Sam Lawton

An excellent performance from the U11B Hockey team in their fixture versus Repton Prep School. From the blow of the first whistle the team played with aggression, intensity and put pressure on their opponents, winning the ball high up the pitch to create a lot of scoring opportunities. Sam and Milo on the wings worked tirelessly to delivery balls into the ‘D’ where Sai positioned himself well to have shots on target.

Jonty was a menace in the middle of midfield constantly working hard to regain possession and making late runs to get on the end of crosses. And if there was any chance of Repton attacking, Jack and Arjun kept their shape and discipline and soon stopped the attack and then distributed the ball effectively to the forward players. Man of the match was Sam for his consistent high quality ball into the ‘D’ and getting himself into good positions to deflect the ball past the goalkeeper off shots and short corners.
