Our Opening Services and the School Leaders’ Podcast have led us nicely into our special year of celebrations. Behind the scenes we are busy making arrangements for the upcoming 300th events:

THE MAIN EVENT – 8th & 10th JULY

By popular demand we will be hosting our very own festival-inspired celebration at the end of the school day on Friday 8th July.

High end street food and refreshments provided by Digbeth Dining Club and Decanter Events

A child’s ticket will cover unlimited access to rides and stalls provided by Scott Entertainment:

Carnival Stalls, The Big One Assault Course, High Striker,Inflatable Basketball, Laserquest, Footpool & Giant Games

An outdoor stage has been booked. All children will be performing in a whole school concert followed by live entertainment from The Jamhounds band featuring our very own Mr James McDowall!

30 Bell tents provided by Village Belles will be available to book for Friday and Saturday nights.

Glampers will be able to use the School swimming pool on Saturday morning.

Friday night is a family affair but Sunday will also offer the grown-ups time for a leisurely lunch in the marquee. A guest speaker is currently being booked.

If you would like to reserve a table of 10 e.g. for parents in your class or a friendship group, please contact Mrs Dredger via email bcs300@thebluecoatschool.com. Contact her sooner rather than later and she will identify any hosted tables on the ticketing site ahead of the launch. Members of your party will then be able to  book directly on to your table.

Just as we held a fundraising campaign for our Chapel’s centenary, we are hoping that Blue Coat families past and present will support us again with our latest plans. Our current and most ambitious Chapel refurbishment to date, will see a full restoration of the chapel pews, new lighting and soft furnishings and the addition of audio-visual equipment and a commemorative stained glass window in the chancel. Externally, we will be re-laying the pathway leading up to the Chapel to create a named walkway where Blue Coat families can have their names inscribed in perpetuity, as a lasting memory of their time at BCS.

We hope that you will want to take up this naming opportunity that will provide a continuous link with The Blue Coat School for years to come.

This whole school fundraising event in support of Edward’s Trust and St. Martin’s Youth Centre, will be a fun day for all the family. Family teams will cover 5kms in total, over a combination of a 1km, 500m and 250m circuit. Each circuit must be completed at least once, teams must include 1 child and 1 adult. You can run, walk or scoot, grandparents and extended family are also encouraged to join in!

Rather than issue sponsorship forms we are asking teams to pay a £25 entry. £10 goes to each charity and £5 covers a medal for each child taking part and a commemorative family team photo (digital).

This event is open to current and past parents, staff and Old Scholars aged 18+. Golf will be played in teams of four using a Stableford format. If golf is not your thing, there is still the opportunity for partners and non-players to join us for dinner or you can take advantage of one of our sponsorship opportunities for your business.
