Active, multisensory, kinesthetic and fun! This is the name of the game for maths in Reception here at The Blue Coat School.

The children have been learning a range of skills including counting in 2s, 5s, 10s, speedy recall of ‘1 more than’, ‘1 less than’ as well as solving number bonds to 5 and learning these facts by heart. We challenged ourselves to apply this knowledge to teens numbers and numbers right up to 100, if we could! Some of our most memorable lessons were when we learned about capacity and used the outdoor water area to bring it to life. The children loved using ICT programmable tools to explore positional language; we drove the truck using directional and positional language to match the story Rosie’s Walk. We have also been learning about the clock face, making and using our own clocks to tell the time to the hour and half past.

Well done, Reception we are proud of your maths work.
