On Wednesday 29th March Year 3 celebrated our inaugural Grandparents’ Day. The afternoon began with an assembly and performances from music scholars Kara and Joshua. Year 3 then transported grandparents back to their school days with a selection of poems on the theme of school. The assembly closed with singing from the Year 3 choir and all of Year 3 singing the closing song “God is Good.” Grandparents and children then split into two groups for an afternoon of activities.
In the Year 3 classrooms children and Grandparents celebrated the special things they feel about each other and children drew a portrait of somebody special in their lives. All grandparents and children also enjoyed an afternoon tea together, followed by a tour of the Year 3 art exhibition as well as exploring the history of The Blue Coat School in the Archive Room.
It was wonderful for the children to welcome Grandparents and family into school to celebrate with each other. Year 3 would like to pass on their thanks to all who attended, and special thanks to Mr Hegenbarth for the art exhibition and Mr Moss and his team for the afternoon tea.
