U11 Boys’ Football

Results – BCS 1-2 Paget School

Player of the Match – Jonty Scurlock

In a close and competitive semi-final of the Birmingham Shield, the U11 Football team unfortunately lost out by the closest of margins. Knowing they were in for a tough game, the early minutes were competitive with some crunching tackles made by Silas in defence. Krish, and were resolute early on in the game. BCS did go a goal down with a defensive error from a corner, leaving Paget with a tap in. This was soon 2-0 when the impressive Paget number 10 converted a penalty awarded after he was fouled in the penalty box. BCS went into half time still with hope but they knew they would have to battle. In the second half, again it was an even game but BCS at times played some free flowing football with some good passing between Jonty, Silas and Jia creating goal scoring chances. The goal did come with Jonty placing a free kick right into the top corner for a David Beckhamesque free kick. Into the final few minutes unfortunately the ball wouldn’t drop for the team in the box and Paget held on. A tough game against a very good team who had some key players making a difference, but very proud effort from the BCS boys.
