Results: BCS Girls first place, BCS Boys second place
The athletics was set up by the outreach programme for KES and KEHS for the Prep school feeder pupils to get the opportunity to use the athletics track. It was pleasing to see some ex BCS pupil’s running the events from KEHS, one of which still holds a senior school sports day record. The events started with the boys on field and girls on the track and we had our first success with Anusha winning the 800m and Beatrice coming in third. The sprinting events were held as heats with no finals so the outcome overall was not certain however, Susie placed first in her heat. Meanwhile the boys were put through their paces in the long and high jump and the ball throw with Remy coming second by only 3cm in the long jump.
For the afternoon events it was reversed so the girls were on field and the boys on the track. Again the 800m was the first event and not only did we get first (James) and third place (Jack), the boys also achieved the qualifying time for Mercia Athletics later in the year. The sprints were again completed in heats and Silas and Vivek came within the first three in their specific heat. Anusha took another win with the girls ball throw and Isabella managed to leap a qualifying jump of 1.20m to gain a first, and a place at Mercia.
The event was held in good spirit and after Perry the bull also paid a visit everyone was enthusiastic and ready for the Commonwealth Games in the summer.
