In a beautiful service, enhanced by the children in Best Blue and accompanied by our enchanting Chapel Choir, we today celebrated the licensing by Bishop Langstaff of our new Chaplain, Father Andrew. Thank you to the parents, the Governors and visiting guests who helped us celebrate the start of this new chapter of our School.

Earlier this week a packed School Hall was the venue for a wonderful and thoughtful information morning on the importance of reading. Mrs Ayub, Head of English, gave a comprehensive and very accessible overview of how we can develop the key skill of reading.  She shared exciting information on our new English video series, one which will serve to support parents working with children at home.

In Pre-Prep, the children who attend Ms Stacey’s book club were waxing lyrical about how much they enjoyed it and how it is giving them a better understanding of what they read.

Speaking of Pre-Prep, I enjoyed discussing the topic of being kind to ourselves. We talked about how we demonstrate kindness to others but also we opened our eyes to the importance of being kind to ourselves. The children gave me wonderful responses and we are going to work hard on this trait as it will help us feel fulfilled in life, beyond Pre-Prep.  I trust that my assembly went some way to supporting this idea. As for the children, they exuded confidence, as usual, and shared lots of useful information.

A big thank you to the Friends of BCS, whose committee met – in very positive fashion – on Monday evening. The funds that you, the parents, have raised are designated to finance projects which will impact greatly on your children over the coming years. Further information, outlining plans, will follow later in the year. I would also thank parents who attended the Pre-Prep Winter Warmer coffee morning this week. It was great for parents old and new to catch up.

On Thursday evening the Year 4 choir took part in the Young Voices concert at the NEC. It was an incredible experience for these youngsters to sing with other children from across the country. Feedback was very positive and a great night was had by all.

Have a wonderful weekend!
