Welcome to The Blue Coat School, Birmingham!

Stepping through the entrance gates of The Blue Coat School you are immediately struck by the expanse of lush greenery that makes up the school fields and front lawn. For one moment this is a beautiful picture postcard, the next it comes alive with the sight and sound of pupils playing at breaktime or energetically engaged in their games lesson.

The statues of the Blue Coat Boy and Blue Coat Girl stand proudly just underneath the clock tower of the Viney building, recreating the façade of the school as it once stood adjacent to St. Philip’s churchyard in the centre of Birmingham.

This iconic building anchors the school to its 15-acre site and is surrounded by both the historic and the new. The Blue Coat Chapel which was consecrated in 1932 shortly after the school moved to its Harborne premises, is still regularly used for collective worship today.

The Prep Houses which hold memories of the School’s boarding days continue to be a ‘home from home’ for the 340 children in Prep. Through the house windows in the early mornings you can see the children cheering on table tennis and table football games and at the end of the day relaxing with their friends.

Newer additions to the school site include the Blue Coat Garden, Astro Turf pitch and cricket net practice area and the Blue Coat Forest School. It’s hard to imagine that the city centre is just 3 miles away when you are here!

These outstanding facilities offer us superb resources for teaching and learning. The Blue Coat staff are here to inspire your child. Limitless learning for tomorrow’s achievers is our vision and we hope that you will join us on our journey…
