The Blue Coat School is one of the best co-educational preparatory schools in the region. Children from age 3 to 11 receive a first-class education to achieve academic success, unique life experiences, new skills and knowledge, and excellent pastoral support in their important formative years.

Founded in 1722, The Blue Coat School has an iconic 300 year history in Birmingham, originating in St Philip’s Cathedral before moving to its current location in Edgbaston in 1932.

The Blue Coat School has an outstanding academic record and our pupils make rapid progress in all areas of the curriculum.
The School monitors pupil’s progress with a bespoke assessment tool: The BCS Blue. It is a secure, web-based interface in which staff, parents and pupils can view achievements, progress, and the next steps. It has already been shortlisted for two notable national awards which recognise The BCS Blue’s holistic approach and use of technology.
Children are prepared for scholarships and examinations to prestigious local schools. The School enjoys particular success in the 11+ examinations to Birmingham Grammar Schools and the schools of the King Edward VI Foundation.
