My Name is Not Refugee by Kate Milner – Review by Avaani (3ED)

This book is about a boy having to leave his home because of war. He sees lots of interesting things on the way. My favourite character is the boy, the protagonist, because he is brave even though he goes through hard times with his mum.

I liked it because the boy went on loads of adventures and although it was a sad beginning it turned into an happy ending for him.

I would definitely recommend it to someone that is seven years and over, and I would give it a four star rating.

Future Friend by David Baddiel – Review by Lana (4ES)

This book is about a boy named Rahul who one day discovers a girl named Pip who has popped out of the toilet seat. Rahul discovers that Pip is from the year 3020 and has time travelled by using a magical glowing jewel. Rahul has to get Pip back to 3020…or can he?

I like that this is a very funny and silly book which just makes you smile. This book is just plain amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes something strange and fun.

I would also recommend this book to people who like books which are out of the ordinary.

The Explorer by Katherine Rundell – Review by Kara (5NB)

The book was about a teenage boy’s journey to safety along with three other companions that he meets on the way: two teenage girls and a five-year old little boy. They all put themselves in immense danger to help each other out. Disgustingly, they are even forced to eat tarantulas and cocoa beans – which are terribly bitter! At great risk, they climb unbelievably towering trees with weak branches, march through a swarm of bees, and climb up a vertical, 100ft cliff!

I love the way this book really sings out everyone’s emotions with great passion and I especially love the way that Ms Rundell describes the scene perfectly, making sure to leave a few gaps in the description for the reader to imagine for themselves.

I would almost definitely recommend this amazing adventure story to the whole world if I could! However, if I had to recommend to this book to specific group of people, I would recommend it to all those who enjoy reading action books.

Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan – Review by Karen (6MT)

The book is about a fourteen year old teenage boy and he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon, the god of the sea. Percy Jackson finds out his arch-nemesis – Luke – has come to Camp Half-Blood (the camp where all half-bloods go) to attack the camp. Annabeth and Percy will have to go to the Labyrinth which Theseus went through to stop Luke from coming through the Labyrinth and invading the camp.

This book is the fourth book in the series of Percy Jackson series and is my second favourite book of the series.

I would recommend this book to lovers of adventure books and Greek related books and ages 8-11 years old as it is quite easy to read through, but has lots of Greek related things. Overall, this is a good book and it is an action packed book filled of exciting and funny moments. I rate it five stars.
