Matilda by Roald Dahl – Review by Savaiya (3ED)

This book is about a young girl who has the worst luck. She had terrible parents and she had a passion for reading. When she finally went to school she had a horrible headmistress but a lovely teacher.

I like how she is very smart even though she started school when she was 6.

I would recommend it to anyone who loves books with people who go through the roughest times and are the best characters imaginable!!!

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame – Review by Amelia (4RT)

This book is about a mole who decides he has enough of spring cleaning and adventures out of his burrow to meet the water rat. Together they go on lots of adventures and Rat takes Mole to meet mischievous Toad, not creating a very good first impression when he falls into the love of motor cars! This new interest pulled him into trouble as usual as he falls into the hands of the police! However Toad learns a new skill… not thinking he is the best of the best as the Stoats and Weasels take over Toad Hall (Toad’s beloved home) and his clever friends (Otter, Badger, Rat and Mole ) think up a clever plan to win Toad Hall back. But, Toad has to make a promise to stop being so self-confident! His friends and him go down a secret tunnel and surprised the woodland animals and won Toad Hall back! To celebrate Toad prepared a huge banquet for everyone. Hip hip hurray!

I liked Toad being silly at the start of the book and so polite at the end. I also liked the fact that there is a moral to this book which is there’s always time to turn over a new leaf!

I would recommend this book to people who are really into adventure, travelling  mystery and a bit of behaviour as well!

Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb – Review by Jeevan (5EW)

I really enjoyed this book, it is a very interesting book as it uses very different words (e.g yee, thy, thee, hath etc), though it also helps you in your literature.

I really enjoyed the different stories and my favourite one is A Comedy of Errors. It is about two brothers who got split apart from each other with one having the mum and one having the dad. They were both called Antipholus and they were identical twins. One day, when they were all in an inn, they adopted these other children who were both called Dromio and were also identical twins. I wouldn’t rate it five stars because even though it helps your literature it is very confusing.

I would recommend it to anyone who likes to explore different things and anyone who enjoys English.

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens – Review by Arya (6JR)

Oliver Twist is a poor child whose life so far has been miserable. That turns even more when he asks for more. Do you think Oliver will survive?

I liked that it kept me hoping that Oliver was going to survive the Workhouse. i also liked how Dickens used sarcasm which showed it was really horrible in those days.

I would recommend this book to people who would like to know more about our past and people who really enjoy Dickens.
