Working in partnership with parents is essential for our youngest children in Buttons Nursery.  Staff work closely with parents to support the learning and development of the children. They make careful observations which they use to plan inspiring activities to meet the needs of each unique child. As a result, Buttons Nursery children are highly motivated and eager to learn through the engaging experiences provided.

Play is a vital for young children so exciting opportunities for child and adult initiated play exploration and investigation are planned and resourced using the indoor and outdoor areas. All activities for the Buttons Nursery children are based on the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage which sets standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.

The main focus in the Nursery Curriculum is on the three Prime Areas: Communication and Language; Physical Development; and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. Activities are also planned to support the children’s learning and development in the four Specific Areas: Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; and Expressive Arts and Design.
