As we gracefully transition from the cheerful chirps of spring into the sun-soaked days of Trinity Term at The Blue Coat School, it feels a bit like stepping off a peaceful merry-go-round and onto an exhilarating, topsy-turvy roller coaster—minus any risk of a queasy tummy, thankfully!
This week, as the corridors echoed with the buzz of our eager pupils, they seemed to brighten the School with their summer attire. Their blazers were as crisp as a fresh salad, and the pleats in their dresses so sharp they could probably cut through our morning fog before the coffee did! It’s quite evident that our Blue Coat wardrobe is giving the vibrant summer flowers a run for their money!
Our first assembly set a high bar for the term, echoing the thrill of a nail-biting sports finale. With a rallying cry of “I think I can!” borrowed from our friend, the little engine that could, I urged our pupils to embrace a can-do spirit. This term, we’re not just jumping hurdles academically; we’ve ventured into counting in Japanese, a challenge that the children are more than excited to meet. Expect to hear some impressive numerals in a new language at home!
This week also brought some suspense with a visit from the Independent School Inspectorate. While I must keep the champagne on ice for now, let’s just say we are brimming with joy at the feedback. A huge thank you is due to our incredible staff and to you, our supportive parents, for believing in our mission to nurture and empower these bright young minds. And let’s not forget our children, the true stars of Blue Coat, whose zest and dedication make all this possible. We stand strong together.
In our ongoing battle against procrastination, discussed in this week’s Chapel talk, we were reminded that every moment counts. It’s amazing to see our younger children demonstrating the focus and determination we all strive for, especially when deadlines loom over us like dark clouds!
Year 2’s journey back to the smoky days of the Great Fire of London on Tuesday was nothing short of a time-travelling spectacle. Their period costumes were so convincing I half expected to see Samuel Pepys scribbling away in a corner of the playground!
Our Year 6 pupils, standing at the threshold of new beginnings, had their yearbook photos taken, marking an important milestone. The joy in their achievements, including securing places at prestigious schools locally and further afield such as Eton, Westminster and Wellington College to name a few, sparked a little victory dance in my study (video evidence thankfully not available).
As we dive deeper into the term with a packed schedule of music, sports, and academic adventures, make sure to check the calendars from Mrs West and Mr Newman to catch every thrilling event.
Let’s soak in every moment of this vibrant term and celebrate each milestone along the way.Â
Have a fantastic weekend!
