When the dust settles after what can only be described as a week of spectacular events, I look back across this week with a wry smile and a dose of fond memories. Monday and Tuesday mornings were filled with joy as our new Nursery cohort spent the morning in our Forest School. It was wonderful to meet the children and their parents. I can sense this is going to be a golden cohort… I hope! The children and parents were happy and engaged but, most importantly, kind to each other. As I always reiterate to our pupils, treat others the way you wish to be treated. Wise words for us all!
With the forthcoming General Election next week, BCS and the wonderful Ms Patel held our very own election, focused on what our party leaders would do to enhance life at our School. I can hear you say, “What could be improved?!” Well, the candidates suggested a four-day week, less ERIC time, and a number of environmental points to make the School more eco-friendly. I must mention the candidates in Year 6: Misha (SNP), Rayan (Green), Noah (Independent), Syan (Liberal Democrats), Camilla (Labour), and Elissa (Conservative). They gave wonderful and thought-provoking speeches on why to vote for them at the assembly last Friday, which came to a head this week with Prep children voting for their choice of leader. One pupil said she voted for a certain candidate because he was kind and she trusted him. How many of us will be able to say that on the 4th of July?
Talking of election fever, we hosted our very own Question Time with Preet Gill, Ashvir Sangha, Colin Green, and Dr Ammar, here at BCS. The evening was an excellent opportunity to challenge candidates. The host for the evening was our very own Mr Nick Bailey. His flair and skilled hosting kept four strong personalities in check and ensured an informative evening was had by all. Thank you to all who attended!
I enjoyed my final Golden Breakfast of the year. The children enjoyed a fabulous chocolate fountain and fruit. It was great to reminisce about the highlights of the year. Next year, the Golden Table will be back, bigger and better in our new Atrium!
Year 6 demonstrated their exceptional performing arts skills in the much-anticipated production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It was high-octane stuff, with the children delivering well above their years with clarity and maturity. I am so looking forward to tonight’s performance for the big finale. Thank you to all the staff who contributed, and a special well done to Mr Nicklin and Mrs Redfern as they sign off on their last production here at BCS. I’m sure our incoming director, the brilliant Mrs James, will build on the legacy left by these two maestros in the coming years.
Finally, good luck to the Friends for their summer ball at the Grand Hotel on Saturday night. Much work has gone into the event by Mrs Ahmed and her team. We are very grateful. I hope you all have a wonderful evening!
Happy weekend to all!
