What a whirlwind of a week it has been! It’s like we’ve been living in a cricket match, with all the unexpected twists and turns – minus the cricket bats and, thankfully, the hard balls!
Let’s start with a cricketing marvel that left us all awestruck. Picture this: the Indian cricket team, at home, staring down the barrel of a rare defeat, thanks to Pope’s stunning 196. Our BCS youngsters, with dreams in their eyes, were glued to this spectacle. Pope’s audacious scoops and sweep shots were not just a masterclass in cricket but also in daring to dream big. Watching our girls and boys, I couldn’t help but think – are we looking at the next cricket icons in the making? With dreams like these, who knows!
Speaking of focus, our Prep pupils have been exemplars of concentration with assessments in full swing. I’ve been reminding our young Einsteins that while assessments celebrate success, the real learning is in understanding and embracing our mistakes. Remember, every error is a step closer to genius!
In our quest to be savvy digital citizens, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Karl Hopwood, our internet guru, who navigated us through the intricacies of e-safety. His talks were more eye-opening than my first cup of coffee in the morning – and that’s saying something! A big thank you to the parents who joined us. Remember, discussing e-safety with your child is like a duet – it’s better when you do it together!
This week, we also welcomed Mrs von Malaise from KEHS, who shared insights about life there. The collaboration between our schools is as strong as a well-brewed cup of tea – perfectly steeped and delightful. We’re excited to welcome more Heads soon, from EHS and Solihull.
Year 1 had a ‘Wow’ day learning all about Africa on Wednesday. Trust me, it was more vibrant than a peacock’s tail! Thanks to our dedicated teachers and teaching assistants, the children’s learning leaped off the pages like a pop-up book. Kudos to the team for creating such a memorable experience. Well done to all. The children loved it!
A round of applause for our U11 hockey team, who brought home the Plate from the IAPS Hockey tournament at Repton School. Undefeated and unstoppable, these lads showed skill and sportsmanship that would make any parent swell with pride. And let’s not forget our U11 girls at the IAPS netball tournament, who displayed courage and determination that could give Wonder Woman or Superman a run for their money.Â
Finally, we wave ‘au revoir’ to our Year 6 children off to France for the inaugural ski trip. The excitement in the air was more electric than a pop concert! Here’s to them carving the slopes with as much enthusiasm as they do in their studies.
As we wrap up this rollercoaster of a week, I hope your weekend is a relaxing one.
