U11 Hockey v BromsgroveÂ
What a fantastic afternoon of hockey as all our Year 6 girls took to the pitch against Bromsgrove! It was truly magnificent to see every girl playing and showcasing the skills they have been developing during lessons. The matches were a testament to the hard work and dedication shown in training, especially in attack. There were moments of brilliance across all the teams, with some excellent goals scored and impressive positional awareness demonstrated throughout. Our players combined skill and teamwork, showing how much they’ve grown both as individuals and as a collective. Their enthusiasm and determination were infectious, and it was wonderful to see the joy on their faces as they represented the school with pride. Well done, girls – you made us all incredibly proud!
U11 Rugby v King’s Hawford
A stirring 2nd half comeback really showed what this group of players are capable off when they commit fully and realise that rugby is a gladiatorial sport where there really are no prizes if you aren’t willing to put your body on the line and tackle like your life depends on it. In the first half, far too many tackles were missed and as a result the King’s Hawford winger, who was the best finisher we have played against, had a field day running in a number of tries. It was only after a stern halftime talk that the boys started to put in the effort needed to compete at this level, scoring some wonderful tries. Rugby more than any other game though is a balance between skill, athleticism and character and at the moment there are character issues with a number of this team in terms of some of rugby’s core values – commitment, respect, teamwork, discipline. Athletically, they have some amazing attributes. Teams with hunger, desire, commitment, discipline and who play as a team normally triumph over individuals who put their self importance above that of the team.
