U10 Hockey v Eversfield

Result: 1-2 Eversfield win, 4-1 Blue Coat win

Players of the Match: Alice and Flo

Two very competitive games of hockey against a mixed Eversfield side. The girls took a bit of time to switch on, giving the boys far too much time and space on the ball. In both games, we played great games of hockey but in the first game struggled to get the ball in the goal with some great saves by the Eversfield goalie. In the second game, Flo tackled and distributed the ball well and Summer was on fire in the D striking the ball hard at goal.

U9 Rugby v Wolverhampton Grammar

Result: 9-4 Wolverhampton win, 9-8 Wolverhampton win

Players of the Match: Joshua and Ishaan

The U9 teams had a fantastic afternoon of tag rugby away at Wolverhampton Grammar. In two closely fought games, BCS teams did brilliantly to navigate the tricky change from contact to tag rugby. Despite not having played much tag rugby at all, the boys applied themselves brilliantly, running wider and finding bigger areas of space to attack. This allowed both teams to score plenty of tries, and add to their knowledge of the game. For fantastic running and passing, and wonderful behaviour throughout, Joshua Poyner and Ishaan Modi were named by the opposition as players of the match!

U9 Mixed Hockey v WGJS

Result: 4-1 Blue Coat win

Player of the Match: Annabel

This Tuesday a mixed U9 team travelled to Wolverhampton for their final hockey fixture of the season. This was a great opportunity for the girls to demonstrate their progress this term and to experience playing with different team mates. The girls did not disappoint, when attacking players passed the ball out wide and dribbled forwards hard past defenders. When in the D the ball was played wide to get an easy cross into goal. Sukhmani, Ree and Rosemarie were all successful at getting the final touch on the ball and capitalising on the team’s hard work. In defence Anai and Jasmin demonstrated some awesome communication, with one player going towards the ball carrier and the others picking up free players. This teamwork led to many crucial shots being saved giving BCS the well deserved 4-1 win!

U8 Indoor Hockey Festival

Result: 5 goals scored

Due to the weather conditions the original competition moved from the astro to the sportshall. Seven schools attended and it was a mixture of boys and girls within the teams. This competition was festival based so no scores were kept or overall winners announced. It was difficult conditions to be able to show their dribbling skills which meant more reliance on accurate passing was needed. Pippa excelled in defence, clearing the ball with real gusto and Savaiya pressed the opposition to score our first goal of many. It was a fun afternoon and all the girls will receive a certificate for participation.

U11 Hockey v Bromsgrove

Result: 1 Blue Coat win

This Wednesday all girls travelled to Bromsgrove for what was the last BCS hockey game for many. The girls demonstrated teamwork and were able to show their progress that they have made during their time at BCS. Lots of passes were made and brilliant stick skills on display, with Mrs Bennett’s team coming away with a win. Although there was good hockey on display, Bromsgroves strength in passing, and being able to hit the ball hard got the better of us. Well done to all, you have all worked so hard this season.
