U10 Cricket v Solihull 

Result: Out of 4 games, BCS won 3 

In a series of thrilling encounters against Solihull Prep School, our Year 5 pupils showcased remarkable teamwork and sportsmanship in pairs cricket. Despite facing a tough opposition, our young cricketers demonstrated exceptional skill and determination on the field. With precise batting and sharp fielding, they put up a commendable performance. The teams displayed enthusiasm and fair play throughout the match, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved. The spirit of the game prevailed, instilling valuable lessons in our budding athletes.

 

U9 Cricket v RGS: The Grange 

In a thrilling showdown marking the commencement of the cricket season, RGS: The Grange locked horns with The Blue Coat School in a riveting clash that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Both teams exhibited exemplary skills in both batting and bowling, setting the stage for an enthralling contest.

 

U11 Cricket v Solihull

On Wednesday, our U11 cricket team clashed with Solihull Prep School in four encounters. The games showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship from all four sides. Despite spirited efforts, our team faced tough competition. Each match was a testament to the players’ dedication and teamwork, displaying commendable performances with bat and ball. Although the results varied, the camaraderie and passion displayed throughout the day were inspiring. All teams left the field with heads held high; exemplifying the true spirit of cricket.

 

U11 Cricket v Winterfold

Results: 289-225 BCS win, 252-248 Winterfold win

All of the girls have made commendable progress in cricket this term. Alayna’s team showcased excellent bowling skills, consistently delivering accurate balls which resulted in taking 5 crucial wickets during the match. Moreover, Anushka’s team demonstrated great prowess in batting, consistently hitting boundaries and effectively contributing to the team’s overall performance.

However, there is still room for development in some of the girls’ bowling techniques. We need to focus on improving their consistency when bowling to not give away so many wides. With dedication and practice in training sessions, the girls have the potential to refine their skills and become more well-rounded cricketers.

Overall, the girls’ performance so far this term in cricket has been impressive, with notable strengths in batting capabilities. Continued effort and focus in developing their bowling and fielding technique will undoubtedly lead to further success in future matches.

 

U11 Cricket ESCA Competition

Result: BCS win

The U11 cricket team travelled to Hallfield for the district qualifier of the ESCA Competition. The team had two fixtures playing West House followed by a game versus Hallfield. The match against West House was a testament to the team’s determination and skill. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, our team demonstrated exceptional batting performances, posting a commendable total on the scoreboard. Each batsman showcased resilience and technique, contributing significantly to the team’s score.

In the field, our bowlers displayed precision and control; restricting West House’s batting lineup with strategic deliveries and tight fielding. The team’s collective effort culminated in a convincing victory, defeating West House by a margin of 36 runs.

Buoyed by their success in the previous match, our U11 team entered the field with confidence against Hallfield. Opting to bat first once again, our batsmen exhibited remarkable form, capitalising on scoring opportunities and building partnerships effectively. With each player exhibiting sound technique and determination, the team amassed a formidable total, setting a challenging target for Hallfield.

In the bowling department, our team maintained relentless pressure on the opposition, delivering accurate lines and lengths to keep Hallfield’s batsmen in check. Supported by agile fielding and astute tactics, our bowlers succeeded in restricting Hallfield’s scoring opportunities, ultimately securing a comprehensive victory by 50 runs.

The team now progress through to the Warwickshire finals of this competition on Wednesday 5 June at Warwick School. Well done!
