Despite the fierce competition, sportsmanship prevailed with all teams displaying respect and camaraderie throughout. The matches were a testament to the spirit of cricket, leaving spectators in awe of the young talent on display.

U11 Cricket v RGS: The Grange

Result: 256-239 BCS win

Fielder of the Match: Mischa

Batter of the Match: Esther

The U11 girls cricket team has shown great promise so far this term in cricket. On a lovely sunny day, they demonstrated exceptional skills when playing their first hard ball match. All the girls managed to read the slope effectively while bowling, resulting in improved accuracy and few wides given. The team has also shown strength in running good singles between the wickets, showcasing agility and quick decision-making on the field. Two highlights of the match was Esther’s amazing throw from the outfield, leading to a crucial run out and Alayna hitting a six. This was a great showcase of girls cricket across both teams and our team should be pleased with their pairs scores through runs made Ihra and Annabel (10), Ellie and Esther (8), Susie and Mischa (7), Arya B and Alayna (9) and Esther and Mischa (7).

U11 Cricket v RGS: The Grange

Result: 103-58 BCS win

Fielder of the Match: Tejvir

Batter of the Match: Amadora

What a fantastic game of cricket. With the sun shining, the girls won the toss and opted to field. Strong accurate bowling and fielding by Blue Coat kept the score down. We were particularly impressed by Tejvir and Arya who bowled with speed and accuracy. Blue Coat then went into bat and got off to a great start, smacking the ball to the boundary and running hard between the wickets. All the girls batted really well and knocked up a great total of 103 runs. Particular mention to Kyra and Amadora who scored numerous 4’s striking the ball very confidently. A fantastic performance, well done girls.

U11 ISFA Finals

On Tuesday, the U11 football team took part in the National ISFA Finals Day at St George’s Park. It was a wonderful day with the boys doing themselves and the School proud with their performances. Whilst we didn’t qualify for the quarter finals, all the games were close bar the last one and even that could have been different if Ben’s shot had gone over the line after hitting the bar.

A draw in the first game was disappointing only in the fact we completely dominated the game but couldn’t shoot on target! The 2nd game was another close affair where we took victory thanks to a calm finish from Samson. The next 2 games we lost 2-1 where in the 1st we were beaten by a better team but the 2nd we should have won but fatigue and our achilles heel and wayward finishing was setting in. The boys were a bit deflated for the last game and we came up against the best team in the group, Chigwell from Essex, who were eventually beaten in the final.

However the 3-0 scoreline was not really a reflection of the game. All the boys did themselves proud but Ben was a colossus at the back and demonstrated great resilience to go with a good touch and combative nature. Kavidh showed great composure on the ball and very good distribution skills, whilst Jasper made some incredible saves in goal. Whilst we always want to try and win, ultimately winning on the pitch is limited to one team and every team that got this far are winners anyway! Well done all.

U8 Cricket Festival

This Thursday saw a fantastic afternoon of cricket for the U8 girls. They were so excited to play lots of cricket with the added bonus of the sun shining. For many, this was the first away fixture they had been selected for. We took a coach to Bromsgrove for a fun filled afternoon of festival cricket where the girls had an opportunity to develop their batting, bowling and fielding skills. All girls played so well and demonstrated their BSC values from start to finish. Great competition from Bromsgrove, making them very competitive games, although no scores were recorded. Finishing the afternoon off with a tasty after match tea. Well done girls; you were a pleasure to take away.

U11 Cricket 6 a side Competition

The U11 boys cricket team travelled to RGS to participate in their annual 6 a side competition. Placed in a group with RGS and Hereford Cathedral, the team comfortably beat RGS due to some excellent batting by James and Noah and then some accurate and disciplined bowling with Rayan being the pick of the bowlers. In the game against Hereford, a poor batting display despite a good knock from Kavidh ensured a low total of which Hereford won off the last ball hitting it for a boundary. This meant in the afternoon the team went into the second place group where they comfortably won both games against Bablake and Kings St Albans with strong batting displays in both games with Arya-Veer and Jasper retiring and then an accurate and disciplined bowling effort.
