U11 IAPS Hockey Tournament

Result: BCS won 3, drew 3

Festival Hockey is quick, fast paced and tense, where one goal can change the outcome of the whole league. BCS played Leicester Grammar first and took an early lead. Leicester Grammar were able to score the goal against us in the last minutes of the game. The following games against Bilton Grange and St Hughes both ended in a 0-0 draw. Unfortunately, this meant we were 3rd in our group and no longer eligible for the Cup.

However, the plate provided a new opportunity and created a surge of energy as BCS finally played to their potential. Another 0-0 draw against Bablake meant the game went to penalty flicks – a skill we had only touched on during our lunch break as just in case! With 2 flicks hitting the post and Jasper making crucial saves, it went to sudden death! Thankfully BCS kept their composure going through to the Semifinals against Bromsgrove. Having only played Bromsgrove recently and lost, BCS hit the ground running to make amends! A superb reserve sweep from Ben put us 1-0. From then, BCS defended with all their might and were able to defend attack after attack to take the win.

Finally, we played Ratcliffe College in the final – the same school we played in the IAPS final! This was the boys’ best performance in which they thoroughly deserved to win! This squad has progressed immensely well and they should be proud of what they have achieved and who they have beaten along the way! I hope their hockey journey continues past BCS. Well done all.

U9 Netball v RGS

Result: 5 BCS wins

A fantastic afternoon, it was great to see all 5 games taking place on the astro. The game was split into 5 sections allowing the girls to play each position on the court. It was great to see them progress, learning to mark tighter and move into space. Blue Coat were strong in the D  and had a great eye for goal.  The girls are learning to move away and then  drive forward for the ball and our footwork definitely  improved as the game went on. A great afternoon well done girls.

U11 Regional Qualifiers Netball Tournament

Result: 6-5 Ratcliffe win, 8-6 Bedford Girls School win, 7-1 BCS win

Our U11 netball team showcased exceptional talent and sportsmanship in this fixture. Competing against 20 schools, the girls demonstrated skill, teamwork and determination throughout the day. Against Ratcliffe, the girls showed resilience and a competitive spirit but unfortunately lost 6-5. Bedford Girls School also proved a tough opponent in their fixture which was enough to earn them the win. However, BCS didn’t let that faze them as they went on to win against Leicester Grammar 7-1. The quarterfinals brought a wave of determination from our girls, each persevering with each match. Unfortunately, all our efforts were not enough to qualify for the next stage of the competition. Overall, Blue Coat placed 4th out of 20 schools which is something the girls should be extremely proud of. Well done all!

U11 v Norfolk House

Result: BCS win 11-1

What a fantastic afternoon! The girls had so much fun playing, for some of them, their first fixture of the term. I hadn’t seen these girls play in a while and I was really impressed by the progress they had made. They moved the ball swiftly down the court,  working together and supporting each other to get the ball into the ‘D’. Accurate shooting and a determination to win the rebound allowed Blue Coat to take an early lead and the girls just kept going!

It was clear they understood the game and worked well together as a team and thoroughly deserved the win. Well done girls.
