U10 Girls Softball Cricket v King’s Hawford

Result: 295-234 BCS win

Players of the Match: Louisa and Flo

This was a convincing win with a well drilled team for pairs cricket. The girls started with bowling and Flo got us off to a great start taking a wicket and the first pair only scoring 15 off 3 overs. There was some really good movement in the field and Hannah took a catch. With fast feet and quick reactions, Kara also took a catch before Lana and Flo took a further 3 wickets from their overs and all out for 234. Going into bat, we seemed confident as we started to notch up a steady run rate but also with Hannah, Brooke and Flo finding the boundary. With some nice defensive shots played, we won the match finishing on a very respectable 295.

U10 Girls Hardball Cricket v King’s Hawford

Result: 234-264 King’s Hawford win

Players of the Match: Kitty, Freya and Sonam

The girls really enjoyed their first ever hard ball game and were not phased at all. Every girl bowled with good pace and length and Pippa, Emily and Summer took wickets. The girls are getting much better in the field, moving towards the ball and backing up the throw. Sonam really stepped up playing Wickie for the first time, reacting quickly and fielding the ball well. With the bat, we were a bit tentative against the hard ball and occasionally ran when there was no run. However, for their first game they did really well, picked up some good runs and didn’t shy away from the ball. Kings Hawford also had some very experienced fast bowlers. It was a fantastic game and the girls should be really proud of their performance, showing a lot of potential.

U10 Boys Cricket v Warwick Junior School

In a spirited U10 cricket match against Warwick Junior School, six games were played, including two hard ball cricket matches. The players showcased excellent skills, with notable batting performances and sharp fielding. The hard ball matches highlighted the teams’ resilience and technical prowess, with several players delivering strong innings and effective bowling. The soft ball games were equally competitive, with agile running between the wickets and strategic play. Overall, both teams displayed commendable sportsmanship and teamwork, making for an exciting and engaging series of matches.

U10 Boys Cricket v Warwick Junior School

The U0’s went en masse to Warwick and had a very enjoyable afternoon of cricket with all boys showing great progress. The U10’s A’s won impressively with some great performances with both the bat and ball. Sahib was the pick of the bowlers bowling straight and accurately with Kavidh and Zayan batting well. Our fielding, at times, needs work as well as general concentration to back up and be alert, but other than this another solid performance, well done.

U9 Cricket v RGS: The Grange

Result: 299-299 BCS draw

Player of the Match: Maliha

The whole team was very excited and after a good warm up we were ready to start our match with Maliha as our captain. The match was a great success with regards to running quick singles from the bat and taking bye’s. We do need to continue to use the Trinity term to work on getting our arms straight when bowling as too many players were throwing the ball however, Luna did bowl 1 wicket which was excellent. On the whole, this was an even match and the score ended reflecting how the match was played.

U11 Cricket v King’s Hawford

Result: 224-259 King’s Hawford win

Going into bat first, I could sense that something was not right with the team and they all seemed flat and tired. This reflected in our overall batting score of 24 runs from 15 overs. Trying to remain positive when fielding Kings quickly settled into a steady run rate and also scored boundaries. Susie, Mischa and Annabel bowled wickets and Alayna covered half the pitch catching a high ball as wicket keeper but, as a whole, we were way off our usual form and lost to a good Hawford team. It was just one of those days! Heads up and we go again Wednesday.

U8 Cricket v Warwick Prep

This Monday, three U8 teams played Warwick Prep. All teams played a pairs format allowing all pupils to bat, bowl and wicket keep. There was brilliant bowling on display with several pupils taking wickets, fielding was quick with many successful catches and run outs. When batting, the girls demonstrated brilliant hand-eye coordination and some aggressive running leading to lots of runs being scored. Well done to all who played!

U8 Cricket v RGS

Although the English weather was not kind to us this Thursday, the girls demonstrated perseverance from start to finish. For some of them, this was their first pairs game of cricket. Every single girl made progress as the game progressed. I was really impressed with their bowling, showing a good understanding of bowling with a straight arm and being able to perform this skill with a good level of consistency. Keep up the hard work girls, next up are your House matches!
