U9 Rugby v SolihullÂ
The U9 rugby teams from The Blue Coat School recently participated in a friendly series of matches against Solihull Prep School. In a format that emphasized skill-building and enjoyment over competitive results, our young players engaged in three short games that demonstrated their growing confidence in the contact aspect of rugby. Teachers were delighted to see the players’ enthusiasm and team spirit as they navigated both offensive and defensive play. Throughout the games, the players focused on core skills, especially tackling and ball-handling under pressure. Our U9 players showed significant progress in contact, with more confident tackles and improved positioning around the ball. The teachers noted that the players demonstrated an excellent attitude toward learning, adapting quickly to constructive feedback and helping each other on the field. Overall, the matches were a fantastic opportunity for our U9s to continue their rugby journey in a supportive environment. The emphasis remained on skill development, confidence-building, and teamwork rather than the final score. We’re incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to seeing their continued progress in upcoming fixtures.
U9 Hockey TournamentÂ
A fantastic afternoon of hockey. The girls loved the opportunity to play in a tournament, enjoying lots of little matches and rotating positions. The BCS girls worked really hard and really improved in their game understanding, trying to pass the ball wide and then feed it back into the D. Well done girls!

U11 Hockey v Winterfold
The BCS girls’ hockey team showcased outstanding progress, teamwork, and sheer determination in their recent fixture, achieving a decisive 4-0 victory. Right from the first whistle, BCS took command of the game, pressing high and establishing dominance in the attacking half. The team’s relentless attacking efforts and quick passing left the opposition struggling to gain control.
BCS’s front line was fabulous, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Their cohesive play and strong communication allowed them to break through the defence multiple times, with four well-taken goals as a result. Midfield players were pivotal, supporting the attack while also helping the defence maintain a clean sheet.

U11 Rugby v WinterfoldÂ
The U11’s had a great game against Winterfold on Wednesday. Winterfold played some nice rugby moving the ball well side to side but the pace and power of the BCS boys was to much for them with Roman, Emmanuel, running through them demonstrating their raw potential. Tom showed the others how to tackle with flawless technique but the star of the show was Samson with his quick feet and electric turn of pace. If he wasn’t such a good footballer, I’d be pushing him to play rugby seriously as he is a star in the making! It was also nice to give a run out to players who have really developed this year such as Zar and Zayden, they have really progressed and showed some nice touches on the ball. Plenty to work on especially on our defensive alignment but another step forward as we look forward to the IAPS competition in a coupe of weeks.
