In addition they will receive specialist teaching from the Pre-Prep Music Teacher, Forest School accredited outdoor teaching staff and members of the sports department.

The children have a morning snack and a hot lunch is served in the Dining Room. A wide range of diets are catered for, please talk to us about your child’s requirements.
Curriculum
Before your child starts at The Blue Coat School, we will share with parents a list of fun activities to do over the summer to prepare your child for Nursery. When School starts, the Nursery curriculum focuses on communication and language; personal, social and emotional development and physical development.
Activities are also planned to support the children’s learning and development in the four specific areas of literacy; mathematics; understanding the world; and expressive arts and design.
Staff work closely with parents to support the learning and development of the children in Nursery. They make careful observations which they use to plan inspiring activities to meet the needs of each unique child.
Play is a vital for young children. Therefore we plan many exciting opportunities for child- and adult-initiated play exploration using the indoor and outdoor areas. All activities for the Nursery children are based on the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage. This framework sets standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.
