The performing arts are given high priority. Pupils develop self-confidence and collaborative skills by taking part in shows and plays in our splendid auditorium. Recent productions include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and We’re All Going on a Summer Holiday.
MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Our young musicians are held in high regard by our local senior schools. A number of our pupils are selected for music scholarships and Awards at 11+ and go on to perform at the highest level.
For children entering Year 3 at Blue Coat, we offer two music scholarships and exhibitions. Candidates should ideally be working towards Grade 2 standard, though an examination need not have been taken at the time of applying for the Scholarship.
Many of our aspiring musicians are encouraged to audition for ensembles outside of school. We have pupils who are members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Children’s Choir, the National Children’s Choir and the National Children’s Orchestra, as well as children who are choristers at St. Philip’s Cathedral, Birmingham.
