A former pupil at The Blue Coat School, Rena has a strong understanding of the School’s history and reputation. She re-joined Blue Coat in 2009 as a Form Tutor and English teacher across the Prep school. Shortly afterwards, she became the Head of English, leading the large and thriving English department for five years.

As Assistant Head Academic Development, Rena then developed the Learning Success programmes across Pre-Prep and Prep, focusing on enhancing provisions for children with SEN, EAL and AG&T, working to ensure individual needs were understood and met. During this time, she also established the BCS Outreach programme, developing links with maintained schools in Birmingham.

Rena believes in making a difference for every child, ensuring each one can reach their full potential, and she now has responsibility for furthering the Able, Gifted & Talented provisions with a particular focus on increasing attainment across the school in both core and non-core subjects.

A lifelong learner herself, she recently completed a Masters in Applied Educational Leadership at UCL with a specific focus on digital teaching and learning. She also sits on the governing board of a maintained school in Warwickshire, developing links and sharing best practice with the independent and state sectors.

Rena is Acting Chair of the School’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion group, and she actively welcomes feedback and suggestions from all members of the Blue Coat community.
