The Association of Friends is a group of parents and teachers who meet on a monthly basis during term time and put on a number of very enjoyable fundraising events throughout the academic year. These events include Bonfire Night Fireworks, a Christmas Fayre, Carols & Fizz and a Summer Fête.
With the support of the Blue Coat School community, The Friends raise funds to support and enhance the children’s school life. Current projects including funds for a new timing system for the swimming pool, playground equipment and an outdoor classroom. At the same time The Friends support local charities. Last academic year they were able to donate £1,883 to Acorns Children’s Hospice from the proceeds of various events.
In addition to raising funds, The Friends work tirelessly to create opportunities for social events and to bring the BCS family together whenever possible. Popular activities have been the Headmaster’s XI versus the Dads at Harborne Cricket Club and a Golfing Day at Edgbaston Golf Club.
The Association of Friends, would always love to welcome new members and volunteers. If parents are unable to join the committee and meet on a regular basis, they are still more than welcome to volunteer for individual events. To express an interest or to find out more please email the incoming Chair of Friends, Andrew Hodge: firstname.lastname@example.org.
