Mr N G Neeson
Headmaster
BEd NPQH FCCT
Noel Neeson has served as Headmaster of The Blue Coat School since September 2016. His appointment marked the beginning of his third headship, following nearly two decades of leadership across both the Independent and state sectors. Known for his commitment to innovation and high standards, Noel has brought energy, clarity of vision and deep educational insight to his role at BCS.
A Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a qualified Level 7 Executive Coach, Noel is an advocate of ‘learning without limits’. His philosophy is anchored in a belief that every child has one chance at a transformative education. At the heart of his vision lies a simple but powerful motto: “We do everything at BCS with a CAPITAL letter.” It is this mindset that drives the School’s culture of ambition, excellence and joy in learning.
Since taking up post, Noel has introduced the multi award-nominated BCS Blue, a pioneering programme that enriches the School’s educational offering. Under his leadership, The Blue Coat School has been shortlisted as The Times Prep School of the Year for three consecutive years, a testament to the strength of his strategic direction and the vibrancy of School life.
Noel moved to Birmingham from St Peter’s Prep School in Devon with his wife Jules and their two children, Bea and Jasper. Both children enjoyed a happy and fulfilling journey through BCS before moving on to senior school. Beyond the School gates, Noel is a passionate sportsman who enjoys watching his children play netball and rugby. When time allows, he can be found cheering on his beloved Exeter Chiefs.
