The World Book Day celebrations were bigger and better than ever at BCS this year!

We kicked off the festivities with a visit from the brilliant Chris White, who ran a creative and entertaining workshop for Year 2. The fun didn’t stop there as families then joined us in the evening for a fantastic workshop, which had everyone giggling. A special shout-out must go to William aka ‘Chair Boy’, who may have stolen the show!

Next, came the World Book Day Family Quiz, where families battled it out in a nail-biting contest of literary knowledge. It was an evening of fantastic fun. A huge congratulations to our victors, the Haroons, for a fantastic performance. The winners’ podium can be found here.

Then came the big day itself – World Book Day! We were thrilled to welcome Thomas Taylor, author of the Malamander series, who delivered a thought-provoking assembly about the inspiration behind his books. He then worked with different Prep pupils throughout the day, sparking imaginations and proving that a great idea can come from anywhere.

Meanwhile, the whole School was buzzing with book-themed activities. In Pre-Prep, the pupils immersed themselves in a world of stories, enjoying a variety of activities, from creative crafts to dramatic storytelling sessions.

And what better way to wrap up the celebrations than with our Bedtime Stories event? The evening was packed with wonderful activities, from gingerbread making (delicious!), to a calming yoga session, creative craft activities, and even an adventure trail and scavenger hunt for the more intrepid explorers. Our incredible Pre-Prep teachers pulled out all the stops to make this event as magical as possible, and their hard work certainly paid off – it was a truly fabulous celebration of books and reading.

A huge thank you to all the staff who worked tirelessly to make it such a wonderful experience, and to the parents who joined in the fun. Most of all, thank you to the children, whose enthusiasm and love of stories made every moment so special. Here’s to another year of reading adventures!
