Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl – Review by Avaani (3RB)

The book is about a boy called Charlie (protagonist) and who has won a golden ticket to go to a chocolate factory. Charlie had an amazing time but the other children didn’t have a good time at the fabulous chocolate factory because they weren’t well behaved and were punished. Did Charlie win the prize or not? My favourite character was Charlie because he is kind and honest.

I liked the idea of the chocolate factory because it was very creative and unusual.

I would recommend it for anyone who likes fantasy books.

Malory Towers by Enid Blyton – Review by Pippa (3RA)

There was once a girl called Darrel Rivers. Darrel was new to Malory Towers, the boarding school. She made a lot of friends and one of them was called Alicia, who was a troublemaker. Darrel liked sending letters to her parents when she was at Malory Towers as she missed home. In her letters, she wrote about her friends and what she had been up to. There were a lot of teachers, Mam’zelle Dunpont was the strictest and she taught French. Alicia played pranks on Mam’zelle Dunpont as she didn’t like her. Overall, Darrel enjoyed being at Malory towers but still got up to mischief!

I liked this book because it was funny and mischievous. I would not like to go to Malory Towers though as I do not like being away from home. I also did not like the character Gwendoline because she was very selfish and also mean to Mary-Lou by pushing her into the freezing pool!

I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and think girls would enjoy it more than boys. I am really looking forward to reading the other books and finding out what happens in the rest of Darrel’s time at Malory Towers.

Rescuing Titanic by Flora Delargy – Review by Henry (3EC)

The book was about a very important ship. The ship is called the Titanic as you will see on the front cover. It is a factual book about the Titanic which is on a long journey to a different country but a big disaster happens in the middle of the ocean. The ship was carrying over two thousand people, and a lot of them died in the middle of the ocean but some survived.

It is very good but a sad story. I found it super duper interesting to read. It was interesting because it taught a lesson to put more safety on ships for example lifeboats and life jackets to keep everybody safe.

I would advise reading the book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes history or who likes stories that teach you a lesson.

Battle of Britain by Chris Priestley – Review by Lewis (3ED)

This is a book about history and war. The Battle of Britain was a big plane battle between the Luftwaffe and the Royal Air Force (RAF). It was held in 1940 in the skies over London and the South Coast of England during World War Two. The smaller RAF had to defend against a possible invasion by the Nazis.

My favourite character was Harry Woods, a young reserve pilot who risked his life to defend his country.

I would recommend the book to be read by 7 to 12 years olds.

Princess (Dis)Grace: Third Term at Tall Towers by Lou Kuenzler – Review by Summer (4ES)

This book is about a princess called Grace. She has two best friends and a cousin called Precious who is mean. The princesses were learning to swim but Grace had a problem. Was she going to save it?

I like it when Princess Grace had to solve all of the problems that were happening at the school but if you want to know what the problems were, you need to read the book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mermaids and adventures in the water.

While the Storm Rages by Phil Earle – Review by Alice (5AG)

The book was about a young boy called Noah, whose best friend is a dog called Winn. There is a war starting and they are told to put their pets down. He refuses. His dad is off to fight and he is determined to save Winn, meanwhile his friend Clem has a very old dachshund called Frank. They have to go and save their pets. He tries to find multiple ways in which he can save his beloved family pet. Will he make it with all animals alive?

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure, animals and war put together. Anyone who likes books with animals this would be great for you.

Trash by Andy Mulligan – Review by Arya (6JW)

Raphael lives at the dump. Rubbish. Garbage. Waste. Banana peel, cardboard boxes, cans, you name it and it’s there. Until one day, he and his friends Gardo and Rat discover a small leather bag. Whatever’s in the bag… is about to change their lives forever. And before they knew it, the trio were…wanted.

Mulligan could have made some parts a little better, and it was a bit sad, but overall, the book was very interesting.

I would recommend it to anyone who likes action stories.
