As we begin the Christmas holidays, we are delighted to share some wonderful news about the remarkable progress already being made through our new school partnership, Project Malawi.
What began as a shared vision to make a meaningful difference is already having a tangible and lasting impact.
Desks Arrive at Mlomba Primary School
Last week marked an especially proud moment for our school, as 40 handmade desks with chairs were successfully delivered to Mlomba Primary School in Malawi.
The desks will seat up to 80 children and transform daily classroom life. Previously, many pupils learned without basic furniture and sat on the floor for most lessons.
These new desks now provide a supportive, comfortable, and dignified learning environment, helping pupils focus, engage, and thrive.
The photos capture the excitement, joy and gratitude of pupils and staff as the desks arrive in classrooms.
They are a powerful reminder that simple resources can transform daily school life and enhance learning experiences.
An Outstanding Fundraising Achievement
This achievement was made possible thanks to the incredible £16,000 raised during our Michaelmas 1 House Charity Day.
Birmingham, Chandler and Grace Houses came together in fantastic spirit, demonstrating enthusiasm, compassion and teamwork throughout the day.
We are immensely proud of our pupils for their commitment and energy, and grateful to staff and families who supported the event.
Supporting Learners at Playdor School
We are also beginning to see the positive impact of our sponsorship initiative with Playdor School. At BCS’ Christmas Fayre, parents were invited to sponsor a child for £50 a year. This contribution will go a long way in helping to support their education and wellbeing.
There are still opportunities to take part in this initiative, and anyone interested is warmly encouraged to contact Claire Newman for further information.
In addition to individual sponsorships, school fundraising has enabled us to support six children directly, with each House sponsoring one child. Over the coming year, our pupils will receive letters and updates from these children, fostering a meaningful and personal connection between our two communities.
Project Malawi is already enriching lives both here at BCS and in Malawi. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. We look forward to sharing many more positive developments as this partnership continues to grow.
