Firstly, may I extend a warm welcome back to The Blue Coat School for the Lent Term. A special BCS welcome to all new starters across the School and their families. We are delighted to have you join our vibrant community and look forward to working together to ensure a successful term ahead.
By now, you have received the start-of-term letters from Mrs. West (Head of Pre-Prep) and Mr. Newman (Head of Prep). These letters are invaluable in outlining expectations and day-to-day necessities across the School. Please do take the time to read them carefully, as they provide a comprehensive overview of what is needed to ensure a smooth and productive term for your children.
This week, we were thrilled to welcome our new gap students: Isabella, Lily, Bryn, and Lucas. Please join me in extending a warm BCS welcome as they embark on their year here at the School. You will no doubt see them lending their support in Pre-Prep aftercare and the Prep Hubs, where they will play a key role in assisting our staff and supporting the children. I am sure your little ones will have plenty to share about their interactions with our gap students.
As you may be aware, the BCS Blue assessment tool is available on the parent portal. This is an excellent resource to help you support your child’s learning journey. While we are not asking you to teach them, we do encourage you to inspire them to strive for that extra 5% effort towards achieving their goals. This past year has been nothing short of stellar, with our Year 6 children achieving outstanding results—a testament to their dedication, the guidance of our exceptional staff, and, of course, the unwavering support of you, our wonderful parents. Together, we continue to uphold the vision of excellence that defines The Blue Coat School.
A highlight of this week saw our Reception, Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3 children setting off on an exciting trip to the theatre to experience the magic of ‘The Snowman’. Watching the timeless story come to life through captivating performances was an unforgettable experience for the children. These moments not only enrich their cultural understanding but also ignite their imaginations and love for the arts.
Looking ahead, this Saturday marks our first Open Day of 2025. Once again, we are thrilled to see excellent interest from prospective families, a reflection of the remarkable achievements of our pupils and the strong relationships between our dedicated teachers and parents. This community spirit is something we pride ourselves on, and it is at the heart of what makes BCS so special.
As we embark on another term, I want to reiterate my deep commitment to providing our children with the very best education and opportunities to soar. Thank you for your continued support and for sharing in the vision that drives everything we do at the School.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year.
