On Monday 12 December 2022, Professor David F. Ford OBE, visited The Blue Coat School Chapel to give a special guest lecture entitled: A Christian Education.

David F. Ford OBE is Regius Professor of Divinity Emeritus in the University of Cambridge. His research interests include Christian theology, interfaith engagement, conflict and reconciliation, and learning disability. He is Co-chair of the Rose Castle Foundation.

During the lecture, Professor Ford’s exploration of Christian education captivated the audience, particularly when presenting his latest work, The Gospel of John: A Theological Commentary.

Ford’s latest work invites readers into a fresh, profound encounter with Jesus through the Gospel of John in this verse-by-verse theological commentary. This commentary will appeal to a wide audience, including pastors, church leaders, and other readers interested in the intersection of theology and spirituality. It will also be of interest to professors and students doing research on John and the reception of the Gospel in Christian theology.

The event itself also provided a unique opportunity for the audience to ask their pertinent questions about the role of Christianity, and religion more widely, in today’s education.

Thank you to the parents and friends of the school who attended the event.
