Well, it seems like the second-to-last week of the academic year decided to channel its first-week-of-term vibes! Packed with excitement, we had more events than you could shake a stick at. Let me take you on a whirlwind tour of our week.

Year 3 took a time machine—I mean, a bus—to Ironbridge in Shropshire, where they got a crash course in living history. They managed to cover so many curriculum areas: history, STEM, English, geography, and probably a bit of “how to not lose your packed lunch” skills. The pupils loved experiencing life from the past and getting to be with their friends in a completely different era. I suspect some might be planning to invent a time machine next.

Our fearless Year 6 started their leavers’ programme with an adrenaline-fueled day at the Boundless Outdoor Adventure Centre in Malvern. There were climbing walls, low ropes, and even tunnels which I wasn’t quite brave enough to tackle (someone had to take the photos). After their thrilling exploits on stage last week, it was nice to see them have some well-deserved downtime, even if their version of “downtime” involves scaling walls and navigating obstacle courses.

Wednesday saw us welcoming new pupils and staff to BCS for our annual Moving Up Day. The Pre-Prep children were in fantastic form, embracing their new year groups with an enthusiasm that made them seem all grown up. Everything went swimmingly, and it was heartwarming to see them taking it all in stride.

The excitement peaked with our Year 2s taking their first steps towards life as Prep pupils by participating in our House Sorting Event. It was like a scene straight out of Harry Potter. The Grand Sorting Master decided on their houses, and the anticipation was palpable. I half-expected a talking hat to appear – oh, it did!

Today, we had our final Charity Day of the year, with Birmingham House and Cathedral House joining forces to support two worthy causes: Edward’s Trust and Let’s Feed Brum. Our pupils wore their own clothes and enjoyed a plethora of activities and stalls. The bake sale was nothing short of scrumptious—big kudos to Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Sommerville for their stellar guidance this year. We’ll keep you posted on the total funds raised once we’ve counted every last penny.

This weekend promises to be a blast with the Year 6 family picnic, featuring inflatables and ice cream galore. It’s the perfect way to kick off the busy last few days of term. A big thank you to the Friends for supporting this fabulous event.

Next week, we’re diving headfirst into celebrating School life with Prizegiving ceremonies in Pre-Prep and Prep. Keep an eye on the calendar so you don’t miss any of the action. We’re expecting a great turnout for the grand finale in the marquee on the last day of term at 10:30am. Please, come along and join us for this final whole School event!

Here’s to a spectacular end to the school year—filled with laughter, learning, and perhaps just a bit of chaos!

Happy weekend to all!
