The Queen’s Nose by Dick King Smith
Review by Alice (3RB)
This book is about a girl called Harmony who is ten years old and her toy dog called Rex Ruff Monty and she had a miracle fifty pence with the face of the Queen on it and guess what? When she rubbed on the Queen’s nose a miracle magic would happen, you just have to rub on the Queen’s nose and then say what you want.Â
My favourite part of this story is when someone called Uncle Ginger had a terrible thing called the Blackwater Fever but thanks to the miracle of the fifty pence Harmony saved Uncle Ginger. And I love reading this book.
I would recommend this book to people over 5 years old because it might be a bit scary for those who are under.
Kaspar: Prince of Cats by Michael Morpurgo
Review by Sophia (4JL)
The book was about a beautiful black cat called Kaspar whose owner unfortunately died in a horse cart accident. A boy called Johnny trot takes over the care of Kaspar at the Savoy hotel in London. At first, Kaspar is too deep in his misery to do anything normal, so Johnny finds it hard to look after Kaspar. Many strange guests come and go at the Savoy but none as unusual or exciting as Elizabeth, seven year old girl with rich parents. Elizabeth plays a big part in pulling Kasper out of his sadness but as the days go by it gets closer to Elizabeth boarding her ship the Titanic and going back to America. When invited by Elizabeth’s rich family to accompany them to the ship and see them off, Johnny makes a brave decision he decides to stay as a stowaway on the stunningly marvellous Titanic. When disaster strikes the group find themselves alone in a deep wide sea! Some people say cats have nine lives and that is certainly true with Kaspar the only cat to survive the sinking of the Titanic!Â
I loved everything about the book including the imaginative illustrations and detail descriptions.Â
I would recommend it to any cat lover over the age of six and to anyone who wants a excellent description of the sinking of the Titanic.
A Pocketful of Stars by Aisha Bushby
Review by Dara (5ZS)
The book is about a girl called Safiya whose mum is in coma. Strangely, Safiya is having weird dreams about her mum. Safiya finds loads of similarities from her dreams to the video game she plays called fairy hunters. Safiya is desperate to wake up her mum. Will she make it or will it be too late?Â
I thought it was very interesting especially the way she observed her mum in her dreams.Â
Yes, I would recommend it to anyone who likes magic or adventures.Â
