Welcome back to BCS for the Trinity Term. I do hope you had a restful and enjoyable break with your families. This term is always one I look forward to with great anticipation – not just because we often get a glimpse of sunshine, but because it offers us countless moments to come together and celebrate everything that embodies the spirit of our School Community.
Even before the term officially began, our pupils were already achieving remarkable things. Arya in Year 4 was crowned the National IAPS squash champion – an extraordinary feat – and Isaac, also in Year 4, claimed victory in the plate division, both competing at the U11 level. What incredible accomplishments! Meanwhile, our brilliant Year 5 mathematicians proved themselves as the undisputed champions at the King Edward’s School Mathematics competition. Their determination, focus, and depth of understanding made us all proud, once again highlighting the high academic standards we nurture here at BCS. Well done to Yvonne, Adam, Lia and Jeevan!
As we embrace the start of this term, I would like us all, parents, staff, and pupils, to reaffirm our commitment to making the most of every opportunity. Let’s encourage our pupils to aim high, reach beyond what they think is possible, and go that extra 5% further. You’ll be able to access their BCS Blue on the parent portal, and I do hope this will give you a useful tool to talk with your children about their progress and aspirations across all areas of School life.
We are, I believe, in a wonderful position to continue pushing the boundaries of what learning can look like – creative, inspiring, and full of heart. Let us all work as one, and contribute in whatever ways we can to enrich our shared School experience. Whether it’s joining us at one of the many upcoming events, or simply spending a quiet Wednesday or Friday morning in Chapel, your presence makes all the difference.
I’ll leave you with the words of my go to, Winston Churchill, who once said, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” Let’s bring that energy with us into every day this term.
I look forward to seeing many of you soon.
Have a wonderful weekend.
