The Warwickshire County Championships 2025, held over two weekends at the Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry, was an exciting and highly competitive event that brought together the best swimmers from across the county. To qualify for this prestigious competition, swimmers had to achieve set qualifying times for their age group across a range of events, and we were thrilled to have 7 current BCS pupils representing the School.

The championships took place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January and Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 February, with each swimmer demonstrating incredible dedication, skill, and resilience across multiple events. All our participants should be immensely proud of their achievements and the way they represented BCS on the county stage.

Alice was one of the standout performers from BCS, competing in a total of 6 events across both weekends. She swam the 50m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke, 50m & 100m Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, and 100m Breaststroke. Alice’s standout moment came in the 50m and 100m Freestyle, where she secured 3rd place in both events, showing excellent speed and determination.

Tom also competed in 5 events over the two weekends: 50m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle, 50m & 100m Butterfly, and 200 Individual Medley. Tom shone in the 50m and 100m Butterfly, where he placed 3rd in both events, demonstrating his strength and technique in the water. His performance across multiple events was a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport.

Summer took part in 4 events, which included the 50m & 100m Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, and 50m Backstroke. What made Summer’s achievements even more remarkable was the fact that she completed two of these events just hours after returning from the Year 6 Ski Trip! Despite the challenging circumstances, Summer finished in the top 20 in 3 out of the 4 events, showing incredible resilience and determination. She should be immensely proud of her efforts.

Ava-Mae swam the 100m Freestyle and produced a brilliant performance, finishing 13th overall in a tough and highly competitive event. Her swim was particularly impressive, and she showed true skill and determination in what was undoubtedly a challenging field.

Louisa took part in the 50m Butterfly event. Due to her birthday falling outside her school age group, Louisa swam in the year above her school year. Despite the challenge of swimming against older competitors, Louisa placed 14th overall, an outstanding result in a tough event.

Zachary made his debut at the Warwickshire County Championships, qualifying in the 50m Freestyle event. He swam a superb personal best (PB), finishing in 23rd place with a time of 37.82 seconds. Zachary’s performance was even more impressive considering he was swimming against swimmers from the year above him, marking a fantastic achievement for his first appearance at the counties.

The final and most outstanding performance from BCS came from Amelia who truly stole the show. Amelia competed in a remarkable 11 events across the two weekends and emerged with an impressive collection of medals, securing 9 golds and 1 silver. She won gold in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Backstroke, 50m & 100m Freestyle, 50m, 100m, and 200m Breaststroke, and the 200m Individual Medley. Amelia also took 2nd place in the 200m Freestyle and finished 10th in the 50m Butterfly. Her dominance in the pool was made even more remarkable by the fact that she was swimming in the age group above her, competing against swimmers a year older than her. Amelia’s achievements are truly exceptional, and she continues to be an inspiration to all.

It was also wonderful to see a number of our former BCS swimmers competing at the Warwickshire County Championships. Amadora Ramos-Liu, Anika Moholkar, and Florence Raine all took part, showcasing the high level of swimming talent that has come through our school in recent years. It’s fantastic to see our past pupils continuing to thrive in the sport.

All of our swimmers – Alice, Tom, Summer, Ava-Mae, Louisa, Zachary, and Amelia – should be extremely proud of their performances at the Warwickshire County Championships. The effort and dedication they showed, whether it was in achieving personal bests or earning podium finishes, highlights the strength and spirit of our BCS swimming team.

We continue to grow and nurture the swimming talent within our school, and we look forward to even more success in the future.

A huge congratulations once again to all our swimmers for their hard work, dedication, and exceptional performances!
