The UK’s best schools for cricket have been revealed in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2025 and we are delighted that, for the second consecutive year, The Blue Coat School features as one of the top 50 cricketing prep schools.
The roll call of schools emerged from a large number of entrants who were judged against an extensive set of criteria, which included a compelling commitment to cricket in the curriculum, facilities, fixture programmes and coaching.
Upon receiving this recognition, Mr Neeson said,
“We are thrilled to be named among the top 50 cricketing prep schools in The Cricketer Schools Guide for the second year running. This accolade reflects our unwavering commitment to nurturing a love for cricket at The Blue Coat School, both in the curriculum and beyond. Cricket teaches our pupils so much more than technical skills – it builds teamwork, resilience, and a sense of sportsmanship. I am immensely proud of the hard work and dedication of our pupils, staff, and coaches that have made this achievement possible.”
Furthermore, in addition to this prestigious award, we have had a record number of Blue Coat pupils selected to be part of county programmes this winter. 13 pupils have been selected for the Warwickshire CCC winter performance programme and 2 pupils have been selected for the Worcestershire CCC winter squads.
Warwickshire U11 boys: Jovan, Kavidh, Sahib, Archie and Zayaan
Warwickshire U11 girls: Anai, Kitty, Ava-Mae, Alice, Summer and Freya
Warwickshire U10 boys: Henry and Riyan
Worcestershire U11 boys: Arya-Veer
Worcestershire U10 boys: Adam
Our own winter cricket programme here at Blue Coat is thriving under the stewardship of Mr Protherough. Mr Protherough leads early morning cricket coaching sessions to over 70 girls and boys across Year 4 to Year 6 and a Friday evening cricket academy to over 20 girls and boys in Year 5 and Year 6.
Mr Neeson adds, “The record number of our pupils selected for the county winter programmes is a testament to the outstanding coaching provided by Mr Gregory, Mr Protherough and the Sports Department at BCS. They are committed to nurturing young talent, ensuring that our pupils are not only developing their skills but also fostering a deep love for the game. We look forward to another successful cricket season at The Blue Coat School and the continued development of our talented young players.”
