Baby Aliens Got My Teacher by Pamela ButchartÂ
Review by Georgiana (3SM)
Baby Aliens Got My Teacher is about four children. Their names are Izzy, Zach, Maisie and Jodi. They think that their teacher is controlled by aliens. They think this because she has been acting strangely, for example she is more fun than usual. She keeps hold of a teddy for some reason. When they realised what actually happened they give her five packets of bounty bars.Â
My favourite part is when they open up the teddy and see what is inside.
I recommend this book for Year 3 and 4 students who like weird and funny stories.
The Truth Pixie by Matt Haig
Review by Georgia (4LN)
This book is all about a pixie, but no ordinary pixie! This pixie has been cursed by her great-aunt Julia so that she can tell no lies. The truth pixie’s only friend is a small mouse called Marta that lives in her hair. Everyone she meets always DOES NOT want to be her friend, do you know why? Every single time, they ask her a question, she always has to tell the truth and sometimes the truth can hurt people’s feelings. (That’s why). In the end she finds a friend, a proper one, but I’m not telling you what happens next.Â
My favourite part of this book is when she meets a troll on her way home, and tells the truth about how it’s got such a disgusting breathðŸ¤.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes funny and adventurous books 📕.Â
The Return of the Railway Children by Lou Kuenzler
Review by Anya (5AG)
In London there are bombs raining down on them. Schoolgirls like Edie are forced to leave. Some children go to boarding school, some sent to farming, but Edie’s mum, Phyllis says she would not do that! She had been sent away to her aunts and on the way she got to make some new friends, Greta and Gus. Greta seems nice and even treats her toys nicely! Meanwhile Gus seems lurky, overprotective not in a great mood. They get to stay with Edie’s Aunt!Â
My favourite part is that the deeper you get into the book, the more deeper their friendship gets. They love to spend their time near the railway at Three Chimneys. But does a dark secret lurk at the heart of the village… and are Gus and Greta hiding a secret of themselves?Â
I recommend this to 7+ because younger people might get trauma and get so worried in English they might drop their pens/pencils and shiver with worry.
