The Legend of Podkin ONe-Ear by Kieran Larwood – Review by Leela (3EC)
This book is about 3 rabbits who are being chased by the gorm, who is threatening every warren in the five realms but Podkin comes to the rescue!Â
It is an exciting adventure story and I couldn’t put it down.
I would recommend it to anyone in Year 3 and above who likes adventure and excitement.
The Beast and the Bethany by Jack Meggitt-Phillips – Review by Jason (4ES)
This book is about a youthful 511 years old man called Ebeneezer Tweezer. When he was younger, he found a worm like creature which was the most powerful creature in the world and universe. It was as dangerous as an elephant in the midst of a stampede while having a tantrum. Ebeneezer finds out what a true friend is when he meets a really horrid girl called Bethany. Bethany was a little girl with big, horrid ideas. She stuffed worms in Geoffrey’s nostrils and set Mrs Fizzlewicks hair on fire.Â
I liked the bit when it says the end-ish. It gives you a mysterious ending.Â
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes funny books.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J K Rowling – Review by Zayaan (5EW)
This book is about magic and fantasy. There are three main characters; Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Harry Potter’s parents were killed by an evil wizard named Voldemort but Harry isn’t aware of that during the first few years as he was too young to understand. Harry went to live with the Dursleys who were mean to him but only took him into their home because they couldn’t leave a baby on their doorstep. A year later, on his birthday, a large bearded chap walked into to his life and took him to Hogwarts Wizarding School of Witchcraft. This is where the fun begins.
I like the way the author made-up unoriginal words like ‘muggles’ who were people who aren’t aware of wizarding.
I would recommend this book to all age groups because there is no age limit to fun and magic.
