Baby Aliens got my Teacher by Pamela Butchart
Review by Faris (3EC)
This book is about Izzy and her friend going to school and suddenly, the teacher acted nicely. Some of the students thought that she was an alien and Izzy and her friend agreed she was an alien so they ran out of class, but Miss Jones wasn’t an alien she was a human being. Everybody felt so sorry for her so everybody gave her a full pack of bounty bars.Â
I like the ideas of the funny jokes and tell how funny the children were by saying that her teacher was an alien.Â
I will recommend this book who likes funny books and alien invasions. I recommend it to any prep student.
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Review by Kavan (4ES)
I love this book, I have read different versions, but this is the best yet! So what happens is that a group of best friends go on adventures in the wild wood. They go on a long journey to Badger’s underground home in the wild wood to tell him that Toad has been to court twice and has been in hospital three times. Toad is my favourite character, as in the end he finds out that he is a better person than he was in the past and also that he is very funny and boasts about how funny he is, but best of all he gets out of a lot of trouble.Â
In this book, the characters are Mole, Rat, Badger and Toad. The four friends show different personalities and that’s how they get through their adventures. Mole is brave but impatient, Rat is calm and kind, Badger is cunning and gentle and Toad is boastful, mischievous and exciting. How would you feel if you ran away from prison dressed as a washerwoman!
I would recommend this book to ages 7 and over.
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
Review by Judah (5VF)
This book is about a criminal mastermind called Artemis Fowl; he is only twelve years old. In this book, Artemis discovers that fairies are real. But these are not the kind creatures we find in bedtime stories these are creatures that are way ahead of human technology. Then Artemis kidnaps the elf Captain Holly Short and will only return her if the fairies give him 12 twenty four carat gold bars. Holly is not happy about being kidnapped and soon Artemis is going to find out that fairies always fight back.Â
What I like about this book is that there is lots of action and plot twists in this book. Also Artemis faces quite a few challenges like when the fairies threaten to place a blue rinse bomb outside Fowl manor (where he and his manservant butler live). My favourite character would have to be Corporal Grub because he is always complaining about his older brother, Commander Trouble.Â
I think that an appropriate age rating for this book would be 7-11 yrs old. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a fast-paced action book with lots of fun and adventure.
