River Rescue: A Peanut, Butter and Crackers Story by Paige Braddock
Review by Sandrine (3JO)
Butter, Peanut and Crackers’ owner were taking them on a camper van to a holiday trip. Butter ran off because he was mysterious and then Peanut followed him.
Meanwhile, Cracker was looking for them worriedly because he thought they were lost. Butter wanted his litter tray so he went to the river as he thought there was going to be a tray over there. He and Peanut stood on a tree branch above the water searching for the tray, but suddenly the tree branch broke so they fell into the water! Could Cracker save them and what could he do? The genre of this book was graphic fiction novels.Â
The pictures in this cartoon book were colourful and very lovely. In particular, Peanut looked curiously cute and he had a quite gentle temper. My favourite character was Butter. He was very cool and he liked staying alone. In addition, He was tricky because he always fools Peanut.Â
I would recommend this graphic novel to all the people who like comic books, stories about cat and dogs, rescue stories, and stories about helping each other. This book was suitable for children aged 5-12 years old.
Horrible Histories: Villainous Victorians by Terry Deary
Review by Kush (4JL)
The book is about what crazy Victorians do – like stealing an apple can get you to be lifting cannon balls all day until you have to go back to your stinky prison cell!!
I think this book is called Horrible Histories for a reason!! It is horrible for kids in those times and many children go to prison and faint being hung by a rope!!
I would recommend to 7+ because younger children will get nightmares of the punishments!!
First Class Murder: A Murder Most Unladylike Mystery by Robin Stevens
Review by Hannah (5NB)
This book was about two girls called Daisy and Hazel. They went to the Orient Express on holiday. Mrs Daunt was murdered and the two murderers worked well to hide the evidence but unluckily, the train had to stop so Daisy and Hazel worked well to find it and even found out Mrs Vitellius’s spy with the help of Alexander.
I liked how they used someone outside of the detective society to help them.Â
I would recommend this book to people who love twists in the story and love murder books.
