Money for Beginners by Matthew Oldham – Review by Yitong (3RA)
This book is about money. Not just plain old money, but where money goes and what it does.Â
I found it SO interesting because I knew a lot from it and the pictures were very entertaining. There was absolutely nothing that I didn’t like. I would recommend this book to all.
The Demon Headmaster by Gillian Cross – Review by Yvonne (4SM)
This book was about Dinah finding her new school very strange . She discovers that the headmaster is hypnotizing everyone excluding Harvey, Lloyd and the other members of the SPLAT gang. That can only mean one thing, the headmaster is a DEMON!!!Â
Can Dinah stop the demon headmaster from succeeding his goal to hypnotize the world and keep it under his control? I like this book because it has a big sense of humour. I was so hooked into it. Once I opened it, it became stuck to my hands!Â
I would recommend this book to people who like a great mystery puzzle.Â
Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens – Review by Katie (5AG)
Oliver Twist is a wonderful story about a Victorian orphan. Young Oliver had been taken in by a cruel man and forced to work for him in a warehouse. The man only gave them a minuscule bowl of overcooked porridge. Oliver had been kicked out for hunger. Another man took him in for him to steal. Oliver was very skillful at stealing but one day was careless and was caught. But a polite gentleman took him in. Unfortunately, Oliver’s previous owner stole him back and was beaten up. A maid called Rosemary took him in and returned him back to the polite gentleman. The thief was then jailed for life but what happened to Oliver?
I would recommend this book to Charles Dickens lovers, fans of Street Child and history lovers.
Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan – Review by Karen (6MT)
The book is about a fourteen year old teenage boy and he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon, the god of the sea. Percy Jackson finds out his arch-nemesis – Luke – has come to Camp Half-Blood (the camp where all half-bloods go) to attack the camp. Annabeth and Percy will have to go to the Labyrinth which Theseus went through to stop Luke from coming through the Labyrinth and invading the camp.
This book is the fourth book of Percy Jackson and is my second favourite book of the series. I would recommend this book to lovers of adventure books and Greek related books and aged 8-11 years old as it is quite easy to read through, but has lots of Greek related things.
Overall this is a good book and it is an action packed book filled of exciting and funny moments. I rate it five stars.
