The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C S Lewis

Review by Eason (3EC)

The book was about some children who were sent away from London because of air-raids. They were sent to a professor’s house where there were lots of hidden secrets. Lucy (one of the children) steps into the wardrobe and finds herself in the magical land of Narnia. The White Which has the title, Queen, although she is very nasty. Can Lucy and her 3 friends stop this troublesome Witch with some help?

I thought it was very interesting and imaginative and I loved it so much I couldn’t put it down!!!

I would recommend it to all children who love action, adventure and bravery, the book is filled with it.

Bird Boy by Catherine Bruton

Review by Milo (4SB)

The book is about Will, a boy whose Mother dies. He is sent to live with his Uncle Ian in the Valley. One night a storm breaks out. Will is worried about a nest of three ospreys he saw the day before. He went to check on them and one was missing. He found it on the edge of a cliff, with a broken wing. he took it into the barn next door. His uncle found out, and called his friend, a bird vet. Together, along with friends he meets along the way, he saves the bird in time for him to take flight.

I thought it was amazing, heartfelt and mysterious. I found it so interesting because you could never guess what was around the corner.

I would recommend it to year four and up because it might scare younger people.

Skulduggery Pleasant: Last Stand of Dead Men by Derek Landy

Review by Alice (5ZS)

In this book the Dead Men, (a powerful group of sorcerers, including Skulduggery Pleasant) unite, with Valkyrie as a new member. As a war of loyalty begins, things grow more sinister and confusing until a traitor amongst the Dead Men is revealed.

I enjoy the book because it is not only about action, magic and adventure, it is also about crimes and mysteries.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes magic, fantasy and adventure novels, and also to anyone who likes danger and action.

Skandar and the Unicorn Thief by A F Steadman

Review by Katie (6JW)

Skandar Smith is just a regular boy with a normal life. He has an older sister (Kenna) and a dad and they live in a flat. However, all of that changes. Skandar is watching the Chaos Cup when a strange new villain (named The Weaver) comes and steals a unicorn. Everyone is extremely concerned but all of the 13 year olds are more scared for their exams to become a unicorn rider. Skandar is forbidden to take the test but a strange lady turns up and delivers him to the island herself. Skandar discovers new friendships, enemies and many secrets. Can Skandar together with his friends unmask the mysterious Weaver?

Although I have read all 4 books in the series, the first is by far the best out of all of them.

I would recommend this book to people who love the genre adventure and thriller and have read the Percy Jackson series. Will you follow Skandar Smith, his unicorn and his friends on a perilous and heart-racing adventure?
