Dinosaur Cove: Escape from the Fierce Predator by Rex Stone – Review by Ethan (3RB)

Tom and Jamie are able to go 56 million years in the past, this is because magical footprints lead them back into the Jurassic period but with an allosaurus stalking them and a unnamed dinosaur in their tracks. They have to head into the dark tunnels to escape the toothed lizard but it’s where the unnamed beast lurks mysteriously in the unknown depths.

I like how they know they have to stay out of the wind so the allosaurus doesn’t smell them.

I would recommend this book to people who like dinosaurs.

Baby Aliens Got My Teacher by Pamela Butchart – Review by Alice (4JL)

This is a very, very, VERY funny book about children who go to school, like us and suspect that their teacher has been caught by baby aliens!

I like the part when they eavesdrop the teacher’s meeting during break and find more evidence to prove their prediction. This is because it’s exciting and funny to hear their ridiculous thoughts, (in my opinion).

I would recommend this book to pupils who like funny mystery books and to anyone who likes a good laugh! I hope this review will persuade you to read this book if you haven’t already read it.

Key Player by Kelly Yang – Review by Katie (5AG)

One thing you should know about Kelly Yang before we begin is that she is an excellent author and her books are not that well known unfortunately. Key Player is the fifth book in the Front Desk series.

Key Player is not the last as Kelly Yang has confirmed there is going to be a sixth book of the series. Mia (who is the main character) and her friends Jason and Lupe are embarking on a new adventure. Mia’s parents have not got a health insurance so if one of them gets hurt they are unable go to hospital. Mia doesn’t like taking part in her P.E. lessons in case she gets hurt; until there is a ladies football match (China versus America). Mia is desperate to boost her grades so her teacher says she has to get an interview with the football teams. While Mia is searching for a football team she could interrogate, Jason and Hank open a Chinese authentic restaurant at Mr Yao’s motel. Mia searches for the American ladies football team and they take a selfie together and give them an autograph but they do not accept interviews. Her (cruel in my opinion) teacher doesn’t accept the autograph as anyone could ask for one. With the help of her friend Lupe, Mia tracks down the Chinese ladies football team and gets to meet them in person. They soon become close friends and give Mia a scoop for her teacher who accepts and boosts her grades for showing her commitment to sports. After the match, the Chinese football team go to the restaurant to have Chinese style roast duck (which Jason prepares).

I would recommend this book to Kelly Yang fans, people who are fans of stories about culture and girl power as there is a lot of women power involved.

First Class Murder by Robin Stevens – Review by Kyra (6JM)

This book is all about two girls always solving mysteries wherever they go! No matter what they never fail and always crack the most extraordinary cases! No matter what the challenge, it always has such unexpected twists and the end is so satisfying that you just crave to read more!

I love the fact that it is a book series therefore there are always new and exciting mysteries to be discovered! I also admire how there is two girls that have formed an unlikely friendship with each other!

I would definitely recommend this book to someone who loves adventures, mysteries or anyone who wants a good read!
