Charlotte’s Web by E B White

Review by Adam (3JO)

This story is about a little girl called Fern and a baby pig, called Wilbur, who she saves from slaughter. We get to read about Wilbur and Fern’s friendship with Charlotte, a friendly spider that lives in the barn. Together, Charlotte and Fern are able to save Wilbur once again from a deadly fate!

I loved how imaginative the author was, creating talking animals. They used lots of interesting adjectives and I was able to expand my vocabulary. It was also heartwarming to see everyone in the book working together to save Wilbur (except the grown ups). This book is a very good book to read it’s fun also it helps you to understand books better.

The World’s Worst Teachers by David Walliams

Review by Avaani (4ES)

It was about a horrible teachers that destroy children’s happiness! A librarian demanded a child to give her money because she dropped a crumb on the floor, imagine if Ms Stacey did that to us.

I enjoyed reading the tales of what the teachers did to the poor children.

I would recommend it for children 6+ because the younger children might not like the story due to the abhorrent things the teachers did.

Front Desk by Kelly Yang

Review by Erica (5NB)

The book was about a ten year old girl called Mia who is from China and came to America. Mia and her parents work at a motel and the owner, Mr Yao pays them very little money. Mia has to go through lots of problems and complexities of school life.

I liked that Mia’s optimism and resourcefulness shine through as she helps her parents run the front desk while secretly having a dream of being a writer.

I would highly recommend it to anybody who is looking for an uplifting, thoughtful story.

Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

Review by Aarav (6JM)

This book was about the brave hero, Percy Jackson, who, along with his demigod friends, know Kronos is coming as there is a spy at camp. Swarms of monsters are going to take down Olympus. Percy, startled by the words of the prophecy, must find a way to make himself invincible like Kronos by bathing in the River Styx. The hero of the prophecy might not have been who Percy, the demigods and the Gods had in mind. The fate of the world is in Percy’s hands will the quest succeed? Will Percy see this through?

This book was a thriller, I couldn’t put it down. The book had all sorts of twists and turns. It has been a pleasure reading these wonders written by Rick Riordan so far. I’d recommend this book to anyone who has the capability to do so. Any one who reads Riordan’s glories will most likely be pleased. This is probably going to be my favourite book of the year.
